An opportunity only exists under two conditions: recognizing it, followed by seizing it. It would be easy to look at a match on a dating app as inorganic, or perhaps not romantic. At the moment of connection you may be right, but what follows is what sets the stage for what could someday be.
In the Fall of 2021 Sara was visiting the Northwoods over Thanksgiving at the esteemed Kulton Cabin located just north of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Colt had been living in the Northwoods for just under two years at the time and thus far finding the dating prospects decidedly limited. Over Thanksgiving they matched on a dating app.
They soon learned that conversation came easy and their lifestyles and upbringings were eerily similar. There was only one problem... they didn't living in the same area, zip code, or even state! They lived 350 miles and a different world apart. However, like most good things in life a combination of fate and active effort would place them where they needed to be to plant the seeds of their new relationship.
Colt and Sara grew up within thirty minutes of each other in Illinois and had family cabins throughout life only thirty-five minutes apart in Northern Wisconsin. These links made possible what would turn out to be three years of long distance dating.
These years of distance established a foundation for their relationship that stands firmly on the pillars of commitment, hard work, communication, and trust. Finally after those long years of overcoming distance, Colt and Sara were finally able to be together. Sara moved to Minocqua, Wisconsin in September of 2024. The excitement was amplified by all they had gone through to get to this point.
In the coming year, Sara would graduate with a masters degree from Lewis University and achieve her goal of becoming a license Occupational Therapist. She soon began working in her field at Lakeland Star Academy, a charter school for children with disabilities. As Colt would continue to grow his buisness, the two would find their place within their community.
Finally, on July 3rd, 2025 in front of Rest Lake in Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin the stage was set. Colt had bought a ring and hatched a plan involving both of their families to propose to Sara. With the help of their families the moment went off without a hitch. Sara was so shocked a few choice words might have even slipped out! This would come as no surpirse, if you know Sara and Colt at all. They then celebrated the way that Kultons and Wennlunds do; food, drinks, music, and great company.
An opportunity was presented. Two people recognized it and two people seized it. It will be our great joy to celebrate our love story with all of you the way that Kultons and Wennlunds do. Food! Drinks! Music! and Great Company!
